Countryside

McCormick’s return to north Shropshire in 2018 directly lead to an exploration of rural landscapes especially in his earlier fluorescent series. Latterly his work has shifted focus back towards more complex brushwork, as seen in his latest countryside landscapes. Working predominately in acrylics with oil pastel highlights, McCormick as added looser mark making more akin to his earlier oils but without losing the vibrancy of the fluorescent series. The result being a lushness of undergrowth, dappled light, and gorgeously saturated colours.
