Fluorescent Interiors

The same moment that McCormick was developing his fluorescent landscapes, he lent the same style of pared-back brushwork to a series of interiors. Often with humorous elements, such as spilt wine, a broken vase with the culprit’s tennis ball nearby, or even humorous titles such as “Irish Heart, English Breakfast” – a pun on McCormick’s mixed heritage. One thing that ties the compositions together is the unadulterated use of colour.
